Introduction

Our Mission

National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC), has been set up in March 2018 as a Subordinate Office under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India for water sector data and information requirements. In order to promote robust public digital infrastructure for water sector to address water sector challenges and ensure water security for all, a detailed strategy, roadmap and action plan for National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC) is laid down as follows:

NWIC to be the Central Nodal Agency for Water Data

NWIC will be the Central Nodal Agency for water data at National Level and will accordingly coordinate, facilitate and implement various policies, programs, projects and initiatives for water sector data in the country as per the vision, mission and key pillars of strategy, roadmap and action plan given below. NWIC will be guided by the water data governance in discharge of its functions, roles and responsibilities.
